About the Studio at Creative Genius

We've expanded and our studio now has a separate rear entrance, parking for students and a nice comfortable environment in which to learn. Our goal is to provide true art instruction in a stress-free environment for both children and adults. Since everyone has a creative genius hidden within, we feel it is our job to encourage everyone to tap into that hidden side. Our class environments are reasonably small to allow a lot of individualized attention from instructors. And our programs are ongoing: you can sign up at any time and begin working with our instructors without any time restraints set on your learning process. Since our classes are "pay as you go", you decide what kind of time frame works for you.

Our Studio Offers the following:

Weekly Art Instruction for Children And Adults Throughout the Year

A Full Schedule of Workshops in Many Mediums throughout the year

Saturday Workshop Hours (with activities in polymer clay and clay) on our schedule for Summer and Fall for Kids and Adults

New! Weekly Senior Programs for those over 55 Throughout the Year

We also offer custom art parties, girl scout pottery badge classes, special events, open studio times, special exhibits and more!

OUR INSTRUCTORS

Our instructors are certified teachers who are educated in art techniques and in assisting children and adults in learning techniques and methods.  They create interesting programs for all levels of experience and for all kinds of interests. Both teachers offer our students a chance to really grow and enjoy the learning process in a casual environment close to home.

Chris Holt ,along with his wife, Julie, owns and operates Creative Genius Art Gallery & Studio on Main Street in Medford. He is a lifelong South Jersey resident whose education includes The Art Institute of Philadelphia, Camden County College and Rowan University and he has worked successfully in various positions within the advertising, art and printing industries for the past 25 years. Currently he is a high school teacher and is the creator of the Commercial Arts curriculum at Burlington City High School. Chris is an outstanding potter with over 30 years of pottery experience, making him a natural at teaching the true art of working with clay. Not only can he teach you about creative painting techniques for your pottery creations, he can educate you on how to take a blob of wet clay and turn it into your own personal work of art using wheel-throwing, coil or slab building methods. If you are going to paint someone else's pottery design, you can go just about anywhere. If you want to learn the true art of working with clay, you should learn from an expert. Chris also regularly shows and sells his own creations through Creative Genius Art Gallery and Studio. He can often be found demonstrating wheel-throwing techniques during Medford street festivals or teaching one of his four daughters how to create their next wheel-thrown pottery creation.

Michele Grady, jewelry artist extraordinaire and jewelry and PMC class instructor. Michele has been interested in art throughout her life. She started working with acrylics, pastels and oils at a young age, moving on to three-dimensional art such as paper-mache and wheel-thrown pottery as she grew up. Eventually this lead to metals, which she has been working with for over 12 years. She has taken a class here and there to learn the basics but most of her skills are self taught and were acquired by trial and error. Her work is sold in many galleries through out the United States including Creative Genius! She now teaches her studio jewelry classes and PMC classes out of our studio here at Creative Genius...

Andrew Pell, our painting and drawing instructor is an incredible artist who has been involved in the arts in some capacity his entire life. Though he is naturally talented artistically, he also attended Tyler School of Art to hone some of his existing skills. He juggles a successful management career with his time here at Creative Genius, helping children and adults improve their drawing and painting skills.

Julie Basello-Holt, spent most of her adult life as a manager in some capacity and has spent the past 6 years as the owner and operator of Creative Genius. She teaches hand-building Pottery classes for small children and also Digital Photography Classes for Children and Digital Photography Classes for Beginners (Adults). The rest of her time is split between running the gallery and studio and working as a

 professional portrait and product photographer.
